On Wednesday 5th April, 14 year 8 girls took to the courts in Fivemiletown in the Annual Year 8 Netball Blitz. The team acquitted themselves very well, putting a lot of effort and enthusiasm into each match played.
There were five teams in total. The first game was against Fivemiletown, and saw us get off to a shaky start. However, the girls soon found their stride and their confidence. The game was tied 3-3.
Game two was against Devenish College. Once again, the girls got off to a rocky start, but managed to turn it around into a 4-2 victory.
Game three was against St Fancheas. By this time, the girl’s had become more confident in their playing ability and were able to defeat this team by 4-1.
Finally came the match against St.Comghall’s. A formidable opponent who had convincingly won all of their games so far. We started strongly which rattled the other team. They came back at us though, first tying the score, then adding to it. A few missed shots led to some frustration and haphazard play. In the end, St.Comghall’s won by 7-4. A great game to end the tournament with.
