Last week in school we were celebrating European Day of Languages. Prayers in assembly were read in a variety of foreign languages. Year 8 pupils enjoyed a French breakfast on Tuesday morning, and many junior classes attended an interesting workshop on the importance of language learning. The canteens on both sites added an international flavour to their menus, and the staff held an international coffee morning in the staff room to raise money for Macmillan. Junior classes completed quizzes for a competition, the Year 8s participated in a poster competition, and even many staff have helped support the events by greeting their classes in a foreign language. Miss Rasdale has even been teaching her classes a well-known German folk song! Competition winners will be announced soon, as will the winner of the “Teacher with the Most Impressive Language Skills”!
