In December, all of our Key Stage Three pupils participated in the House Spelling Bee, which took place in the Assembly Hall on the Cooper Crescent campus. In total there were seventeen rounds – one for each form – and after much heated spelling we were down to our form champions.
These exceptional wordsmiths had the grand final to face, and all of Year 8 watched on as the tension grew. The standard remained high in the face of some very challenging words, but at last, after a gradual process of elimination, Jack Woolley, from Trien House, was crowned our winner and Jamal Tavares runner up. But equally importantly, all participants, whether winners or not, added crucial points to their House totals. Congratulations and thanks to all those involved for making this a memorable inaugural competition at ERGS.
