Excellent Work Celebration Gallery, September 2020

    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 2 October, 2020 | 1

Following the success and popularity of Lockdown’s weekly celebration galleries; demonstrating the fantastic work and independent learning being done by ERGS pupils stuck at home but keen to maintain their learning . We have decided to keep the initiative going but this time on a monthly basis and celebrating the efforts of pupils across the school both in class and at home. As we learn to work in a new way to keep everyone as safe as possible during these strange times, here are September’s nominations to start us off for this academic year.

A selection of the outstanding HE practical work that 8C have been producing since joining ERGS. I think we might have a few potential budding Neven Maguires and Rachel Allens! Delighted with the enthusiasm of these pupils and the high level of practical skills being demonstrated in the dishes produced. – Mrs Kettyle
In Year 8 Learning for Life & Work classes (LLW), one of the first tasks is to agree a class charter for the year. This year 8D have decided to channel their poetic talents to create their charter for 2020-21 and make it just that little bit more memorable – Ms Stephenson
A piece of creative writing from Connor-Keely Sholes in Year 8.  Connor-Keely’s adventure story is excellent because she has included descriptive language, some language techniques and some punctuation for impact.  To read the full story click on the link below the image – Mr McMahon

In ICT lessons Year 8  have began their programming journey in the form of Dance Party. They have used the drag and drop blocks to give instructions to a dance buddy of their choice to a song of their choice. The code is formed in the background. – Mrs McManus

A selection of 8C Health & Safety posters that were completed as part of an assessed homework.  Pupils were asked to design a poster to depict a safety or hygiene rule that should be followed in the Home Economics Room. – Mrs Kettyle
Year 9 HE students have been busy putting their theory into practice at home by showing the importance of eating a balanced breakfast high in protein and fiber, whilst maintaining a budget. A fantastic display of passion and hard work. Well done year 9! – Mrs Wynne

This week Year 9 and 10 Technology Students have been learning about the issues regarding sustainability in the manufacture and disposal of plastics. We spent time looking at food packaging and how sustainable some of the everyday products that we buy. Everyone identified some products that were un-sustainable such as Pringles, different coloured meat packaging and best of all, the Kinder Surprise. To understand the life cycle of the Kinder surprise pupils were set the task of finding out about all the materials used in a Kinder surprise, from the foil packaging, the chocolate egg, the plastic toy, the plastic egg and the paper instructions. We then looked at were all these materials come from, how the product was made and how it reaches the shelves on Tesco’s. Finally, we decided on how to improve the Kinder surprise to help address some of the problems we found. – Mr McDevitt

Congratulations to the following  Year 9 Spanish students who discovered lots of very interesting facts about Spain in the recent homework task.- Mrs Crawford

The European Day of Languages Form Class Quiz was won by 10B. They were one of 5 form classes (8A, 8B, 9C, 10A, 10B) who scored highest in the languages quiz, and they then guessed the tie-breaker question correctly. The question was:

“What percentage of the world’s population speaks no English at all?”

The answer was: 75% of the world’s population does not speak ANY English, neither as a first language or as a foreign language.

10B will receive some goodies during form time on Monday! = Mrs Donald

Year 11 pupils Oliver Khew and Katelyn Fee have made an impressive start to their GCSE Physics course with two excellent practical write-ups and illustrations on density – Mr Hutchings

Year 12 English students have been developing skills in their creative writing. Pupils have been using a ‘Six Cameras’ method to plan and construct ideas whilst also incorporating some rules agreed upon as a class. They are really channeling their creative flair with language and excelling as a result. – Miss Mulligan
