Yr13 pupil Cadet Lance Sergeant Dale Clendinning has been appointed to the role of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the County of Fermanagh for the coming year.
The accomplished 17-year-old student of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School was formally awarded the honour at a ceremony at Hillsborough Castle, becoming one of eleven Lord Lieutenants’ Cadets in Northern Ireland, taking on a largely ceremonial role. Dale can expect a busy year ahead, attending Viscount Brookeborough, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Fermanagh. on major civic occasions. In recognition of the award, Dale who is a member his school’s Army Cadet Force Detachment, will wear a special insignia on his uniform throughout his year in office.
The Citation which accompanies the award praises Dale as ‘a highly respected, loyal and dedicated member of the Detachment who can be relied upon entirely … an excellent role model to the new recruits in the Detachment, his personal turnout and bearing are always of a very high standard.’
Dale is said to be ‘fully engaged with the work of his Detachment, regularly offering his support and enjoying and actively pursuing as many ACF activities as possible. That enthusiasm has seen him excel and he has represented his Detachment and Company in the Battalion’s Tripoli Cup and Military Skills competitions. He has personally raised a substantial amount of money for the Battalion’s nominated charity, Autism NI.
