The Year 13 and Year 14 Performing Arts students were upskilled in a variety of theatrical forms during a series of workshops in The Ardhowen Theatre on Monday 24th February. Run in association with the Enniskillen Drama Festival, the students got to hone their acting skills, and then try their hand at some Stage Combat. They learned how to realistically (yet safely!) kick, punch, strangle, slap and pull each other’s hair under the expert direction of Ian McCracken from FightRight. This was complemented with a workshop in special effect make up with Connie McGrath, were students used makeup, latex and fake blood to create knuckle gazes, deep cuts, bite marks and bruises. The end results were particularly gory! The day was rounded off, with an insight into the marketing, finance and administration practices of the Ardhowen led by Arts Manager Bryony May.
An action packed fulfilling day was had by all, which will support the students as they prepare for their practical examinations in the coming months.
