Mr Derek Holland, Head of Rowing at ERBC was officially presented with his Sport NI Club Performance Coach of the Year award at an event in Titanic Hotel, Belfast on Monday evening. Olympic gymnast Rhys McClenaghan and Paralympic swimmer Bethany Firth were in attendance along with the other winners of the Sportmaker categories across a number of sports from all over N Ireland. Derek was interviewed by Nicola McCarthy after he was presented with his award and he spoke about the importance of sport in the lives of young people and the huge commitment it takes from volunteers to make it work. He also spoke about the Club’s pride in the success of Nathan Timoney and Ross Corrigan and his hopes for them as they get closer to the Olympics in Paris.
