On Tuesday 10th March both Enniskillen Royal Senior and Junior Choirs competed in the post-primary choral competitions at Fermanagh Feis Classical Music. The Senior Choir was awarded the ‘Fermanagh Herald Challenge Cup’ following their performance in the Post-Primary Senior Choir section. The adjudicator particularly enjoyed the choral blend and warmth of tone in the hauntingly beautiful Adiemus from Karl Jenkins’ Songs of Sanctuary. The choir also performed a lively rendition of the jazz song ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’. The Senior Choir was directed by Mrs A Bloomfield and accompanied by Mr David Robertson.
In the Post-Primary Junior Choral Competition our Junior choir were runners up following vibrant and very entertaining performances of the classic U2 song, ‘Love is bigger than anything in its way’ and ‘Friend like me’ from Aladdin. Again the adjudicator had positive and reaffirming comments on the energy and blend of sounds which the Junior Choir created. They also enhanced their performance with some well co-ordinated actions! The Junior Choir was directed by Miss S Rasdale and accompanied by Mrs J Donald. Overall, the competition provided a wonderful forum for choral singing and all in all it was a very enjoyable afternoon.
