Enniskillen Royal pupils made a massive contribution to the success of this annual event as part of the FLive festival on Saturday 6th October. First up were the Year 12 GSCE Drama class who performed their adaptation of The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. Under the direction of Mrs Rees with costume designs by Isabelle Martin the pupils performed on the banks of Lough Erne as their audience watched form the Little Red Boats, and the shore opposite. Jasmine Dooris serenaded the young ones on the boats with vocals and guitar, as they made their way to the Buttermarket after the performance.
The Buttermarket was buzzing with lots for little ones to see and do. The music stage, organized by performing arts student Rachael Ffye, kicked off with performances from Seth Palmer, Elana Mulligan, Keelan McShea, ably accompanied by Ms Rasdale. Rachael also delighted the audience with solo performances on the cornet. The musical performances concluded with a traditional set from Mount Lourdes, which also featured Keelan.
A highlight of the day was the interactive theatre performance of The Selfish Giant, directed by A2 Performing Arts student Erin Webster and Mrs Rees, with Ella Hand in charge of costume design and Rachael Ffye as musical director. Jodie O’Reilly performed alongside AS Performing Arts students from Erne Integrated College. This collaborative theatre project between Erne Integrated College and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School was facilitated weekly at EIC under the direction and guidance of Mrs Rees and Mrs McVeigh, and was a wonderful creative and rewarding experience for all involved. The audience of young children were fully engaged in the performance, actively participating in the games, singing and knocking down the wall of The Selfish Giant. A big thank you must go to all the students involved, but a special mention Seth Palmer and Peter Watson for all their help and technical support on the day.
Blessed with sunshine, everyone had a marvelous time and left with an extra bounce in their step!
