The u14 & 13 girls’ hockey teams travelled to Castlederg HS on Monday to play their next West of Ulster league fixtures.
The u14s started brightly having several chances on goal and went into half time 0-0. Unfortunately at the start of the second half Castlederg scored a break-away goal and then followed it up quickly with a second. ERGS reset and pushed hard for a goal but the Castlederg goalkeeper did weel to keep them out. In the dying seconds ERGS were unlucky to concede a third goal resulting in a final score of 3-0.
The u13s played their game in thirds to give all of the squad game time. They started well forcing the Castlederg goalkeeper to make several saves but ended the first third 0-0. The second third did see ERGS hit the back of the net only for the whistle to have just gone before it crossed the line and ending a frustrating 0-0. The last third then saw a much anticipated break-through with ERGS girls finally beating the defence for the first goal of the game and quickly following this up with a second; final score 0-2 to ERGS. However, as the final 3rd was played as a friendly outside the two half league fixture, the official score was 0-0.
The teams now travel to Cookstown HS on Saturday morning.
