Enniskillen Royal Boat Club had a very successful Erne Fours Head of the River last Saturday with 110 crews competing over two races in the Fours Head on Saturday. 61 crews competed in the Men’s Race at 12.00 and 51 crews in the Women’s race at 2pm.
The Enniskillen boys had three wins with the J18 quad crew of Luke Bailey, Oliver Khew, Austin Cassidy and George Kernaghan winning against a strong field of Methodist College, St Joseph’s RC and Commercial RC. They won the Oliver Scallon Memorial Trophy for fastest junior men’s crew over the 6 Km course. The J16 four of Christian Timoney, Andrew Cuthbertson, Ryan Topping, Evan Donaghy coxed by Jessica Thompson won their category against Neptune RC. The J14 quad of Oliver McNeary, Ollie Powell, Cameron Bell, Mathew Montgomery coxed by Errie Powell also won against strong competition from Commercial RC and Coleraine Grammar School.
In Race Two, the Enniskillen J18 quad of Acorn Cassidy, Zara Welsh, Kate Huddlestone and Isabella Wright won the Amanda McManus Trophy for the fastest women’s crew over the course along with the new cup for Junior Girls. Amanda’s 2 daughters Katie and Charlotte very proudly presented their Mummy’s cup to the girls at prize giving on Saturday afternoon. There was a good win for the J16 four of Eva Johnson, Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Naomi Robinson, Annabelle Kingston coxed by Jessica Thompson over Galway and St Michaels, and the Junior 15 quad of Hannah Armstrong, Zara Lindsay, Milena Remedios, Sienna Howe coxed by Katelyn Fee overcoming St Michaels and Coleraine. Finally, the Junior 14 quad of Eva Fowler, Aoibhin Campbell, Aimee Turner, Amy Lipscombe coxed by Errie Powell beat Bann for a satisfying win for this young crew.
Oliver Krawczyk, Lewis Coalter, Pranay Pacha, Lucas Boyle, Aiden Chen, Caelan Moore, Jackson Elliott, Flavia Remedios and cox Joel Crean competed in an Octo to give them experience on the course and they rowed well.
