Excellent Work Celebration Gallery, 19th June 2020

    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 19 June, 2020 | 0

This week’s entries to the 9th Celebration Gallery of Lockdown demonstrate yet more of the fantastic work and independent learning being done by ERGS pupils as they remain in lockdown but keen to keep their learning going. Don’t worry if your work isn’t included this week as teachers have been sending through all kinds of material that we will keep uploading over the coming days and weeks.

We are extremely proud of our Junior Drama Club’s performance of their virtual play ‘Erne Emergency’ aired on the school website throughout this week. We were also absolutely delighted to hear Mrs McDowell and some of the cast (Adian McHugh and Poppy Ramsey) and Miss Rasdale playing the theme tune on the flute, on Radio Ulster this morning. If you missed it you can catch it on the link below at 1.24. We are also looking forward to hearing Mrs McDowell again at 8:30am live on Saturday on Your Place and Mine too. – Mrs Rees

    Good Morning Ulster 19_6_20

We  hope you have been able to listen in and that you enjoyed the story. If not don’t worry as you can catch the omnibus edition by clicking on  link below. Mrs McDowell

Year 8 Geography pupils have continued to research and summaries some intriguing headlines from around the world – perhaps we could learn a thing or two from the monkeys in Ghana as we prepare for next academic year. Click on the links below to find out more – Mr McGonagle

Lucie-Anne Abbott – What Caused Corona Virus

Emma Fawcett – Social Distancing Monkeys

Anna Cairns – Microplastic Sea Breeze

Naomi Robinson – 1000 year old Tsunami Victims

This History work by Adam Cathcart 8E on King James and Witchcraft is excellent because he has answered the questions accurately and he has included a strong level of detail when required. – Mr McMahon

Over a six week period KS3 Learning for Life and Work classes completed their Green Entrepreneur Challenge. Pupils assessed what characteristics were important for an entrepreneur. They made an action plan to outline how their product would be made, at home, using recyclable materials and the steps necessary to create a successful product. Pupils completed the project by creating a power point presentation to tell the story of their invention, sales and the future of the product using their buyers evaluation questionnaire.

Adam Cathcart 8E – Fire Lighters

Eloise Hetherington 8B – The Green Entrepreneur Boot Pot

Harry Coalter 8B – Hanging Flower Carton

Lorcan Sreenivasan 8C – Time Capsule

Earlier this week our KS3 pupil were heavily involved in the ERGS Virtual Sports Day 2020. This link ERGS Virtual Sports Day 2020 takes you to a video collection of the highlights taken from the numerous videos and photographs submitted by the competitors during the early part of this week. Below we thought we would share Luke Moore’s 10A impressive Cuilcagh collage of images which sadly didn’t make it into the video but is well worth displaying. The much anticipated results and house points can also be downloaded by clicking here – Miss Colville

This timeline by Yr9 Historian Hugo McChesney is excellent because he has included almost all of the main events that took place within the time frame that he was writing about in an imaginative and very understandable format. – Mr McMahon

Over the last few weeks, year 9 HE pupils have been busy learning all about Food Provenance within Home Economics and they have created their own story boards based on the ‘Farm to Fork’ process. Owen Kelly has created a fantastic story board based on the production cycle of sourdough bread and Annabel Morrison has created an excellent depiction of the stages a potato goes through prior to being served for dinner. Well done- Miss Wynne

James Mongan in Year 9 provided a superb photo video diary of his preparation of a Spaghetti Bolognese dish for his final practical assessment. Very impressive! – Mrs Donald

Normally pupils in Year 9 English read some Shakespeare. This year rather than read the play they were much more proactive and independent In their learning. They completed a research project instead. This example is by Paul Hawthorne who met todays deadline in plenty of time and we can look forward to seeing a few more next week. – Miss Mulligan

Over the last few weeks pupils in year 9 and 10  Technology pupils have been working on a range of graphics projects. They have completed drawings in isometric and two point perspective this week and below are some excellent examples from a selection of Year 8  – Mr McDevitt

Some excellent work on the play  ‘Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations’ from Drama year 9. A Storyboard by Poppy Ramsey 9A; Costume design by Ashling Man 9B;  Storyboard by Emily Farrell 9D and a ‘New Scene’ written by Olivia Jusiak 9A – Click here A New Scene by Olivia Jusiak 9A

The pupils listed below were the top performers on the Quizlet app this past week, learning their final unit of German vocabulary. They received a Praise Postcard (as attached)  via email (which I suggest they use as a voucher at home with parents and redeem as a treat of some sort!) – Mrs Donald

Both these pieces of History work by Sarah Tubman 10B are excellent because she has answered the questions in strong clear  detail. – Mr McMahon

Year 11 English have moved on to Creative and Personal writing. Edith Mitten chose the creative writing task which was based on the theme of hope.

Edith Mitten chose the recent protesting events as a stimulus for her story about the theme of hope. Her effort here demonstrates a flair with language, control of writing techniques and sentence structure. Emily Morton also completed the creative task on the theme of hope. She also demonstrates super use of sentence structure and control of her writing. Both pupils show huge potential for next year. – Miss Mulligan

The Spanish Department would like to congratulate all Year 11 pupils who this week successfully cracked the code to the ‘Escape Room Challenge’ by showing impressive understanding of the work done online this term – Mrs Crawford

And Finally, this weeks Musical Entertainment comes from Yr10 Pianist Harry Parkinson with his very atmospheric rendition of ‘Batman’ – Miss Rasdale
