    As we end week three of Lockdown 2 and await clarity on how long it is due to last…the good news is that the learning is still going strong and pupils across the school continue to submit some outstanding work demonstrating commendable effort and enthusiasm– Well done everyone!!

    Year 8D & 8E displayed lots of imagination in the creation of their Creative Colour Wheel. Using clothes, fruit, sweets, toys and much more pupils experimented with colour combinations and colour relationships – Mrs O’Donohue

    These superb letters from Geographers in Year 8 Sarah Speer, Oliver McNeery & Conor Johnston. The key skill assessed here was expanding points and these three pupils demonstrate it well in their work outlining the site advantages of their chosen settlement. – Mrs Armstrong

    The photographs below showcase the highly competent culinary skills of five budding young chefs from 8C. Thank you to Hughie Beddard, Paul Curry, George Gamble, William Moore and Alfie Pattison for sharing their photographs in the Home Economics Google Classroom. – Mrs Kettyle

    Year 9’s Drama Topic this term is the play “Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations” by Alan Ayckbourn. The pupils have been studying the plot and the characters. Here are some excellent Storyboards of the play by Ryan Topping, Hannah Armstrong, Anna little and Daniel Rowson. from 9C.   Mrs McDowell

    9C Art have been continuing to explore portraiture, this time using water colours. These excellent paintings are by Hannah Armstrong, Marina Bell, Ryan Graham, Anna Little, Daniel Rowsome, Ben Shaw, Justin Smith, Kelci Thompson and Lorcan Sreenivasan. – Ms Stephenson

    Within Home Economics, 10A have been busy learning all about Obesity and the risk factors associated with this condition. This class have created a fantastic array of infographics to educate the general public about Obesity and the risks that it poses. Well done, 10A.  – Miss Wynne

    This week’s year 11 star baker goes to Elisha Gallagher for her original take on a traditional ‘banana bread’ recipe. Elisha decided on creating a twist to this lockdown treat by creating a chocolate based sponge using cocoa powder and chocolate chips. Fantastic work, Elisha!     Year 11 LLW pupils, Katelyn Fee & Will Kennedy,  have added excellent detail to their class notes. – Mrs Armstrong

    Year 12 Moving Image Arts pupils, Emma Loane and Dylan Thompson successfully produced a storyboard for a scripted sequence. Emma placed emphasis on the sequence’s suspenseful qualities, while Dylan focused on its comedic potential.  – Mrs O’Donohue

    An example of excellent Government and Politics work from Blake Graham in Year 13.  Blake has answered a question on whether or not all Prime Ministers’ political careers end in failure.  He has included a very good range of points and an excellent range of evidence when answering this question.  – Mr McMahon

     Yr14 Erin Brown studying A-Level Geography has put tremendous effort into her answer. She illustrates two problems of mass tourism well using excellent examples. Well done!  – Mrs Armstrong

    Just before Christmas our Yr14 Physicists decided to build their very own Fusion reactor. They were ‘slightly’ limited in term of access to materials but the results were pretty impressive all things considered – Mr Hutchings 
    I’m sure you will agree that despite the obvious challenges posed by COVID, the quality of work on display ,which represents a small cross section of the learning and engagement across school, is testament to the tremendous efforts of the teachers and young people in our school community.
