Over the last 2 months a team of fifteen ERGS Yr10 rugby players have been involved in a research project linked to our association with the Children’s Football Alliance and this year’s focus of FMOSH (Football Makes Our Shared History).
The focus of the project had two main aims. Firstly to consider the importance of sport as a mechanism for peace and bringing people together, inspired by the story of the Christmas truces of WWI in Mesen Belgium ??, the home of the Flanders Peace Pitch which we twinned the Eisenhower Playing Fields with in 2018. The second aim was to then investigate the history of a sport in our school; in this case the history of Portora and ERGS Rugby Club.
The video below is our end result and something the group should be congratulated on. A big thank you must go to all the willing participants and interviewees for sharing their stories and to Mr Brimstone who’s editing expertise allowed us to put all our research and ideas together.. ENJOY!!
