On Friday our Inter Netball Team attended their first NI Blitz of the new season. The girls faced 3 other schools (a fourth having to pull out last minute). The Blitz was at Fivemiletown and comprised Fivemiletown, St Fanchea’s, Lisneal College and ourselves.
Games were 2 halves of 10 minutes which gave the girls ample time to settles into their games’ play.
Game 1 was against Fivemiletown themselves and it was a very fast paced, end to end match. The teams were quite evenly matched in their skill set, but the ERGS team got into a great rhythm, ensuring them the win 13-8.
After a few matches where the girls watched, and I umpired other matches, we returned to the court. This time we faced Lisneal college – an unknown entity. Once again, the girls worked well together despite a change about in the team’s dynamics. Final score 10-4 to ERGS.
Lastly, we faced St Fanchea’s – another team change ensued and such is the depth of our squad, we maintained our strong command of the game. Final score 14-2.
The girls won this blitz, which places them in the first division of their league. We await the draw after Halloween to announce who we will play next.
