On Thursday 16th December, a ‘Perform with Confidence’ Vocal Workshop was held on the Cooper Crescent site over the lunchtime periods. Pupils who have started taking Singing lessons this term with Mr David Robertson participated, where they got a chance to meet with other singing students and develop specific team-working skills designed to enhance trust and confidence. The pupils were guided in exploring how our modern culture of “individual” performance is quite different from how people sang together in the past, and were excited to see that if they can bring some of those “team” qualities into play in their singing it can make the whole experience much more inspiring. They performed a range of pieces in both Pop and Musical Theatre styles for each other. Those participating were from KS3 and KS5 and everyone had the chance to peer mentor. Overall, the workshop was a very positive and enjoyable experience for all involved even though it was a ‘closed’ event due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
