The ERGS journey in the Schools’ Cup ended in a tough last sixteen tie against a very well-drilled Dungannon Integrated side. The deciding goal came from an unfortunate own goal midway through the second half, giving keeper Ross Thompson no chance. Until that point, captain Dylan Seaney had marshalled his defence well, with Robert Kerr, Bruce Lennox, and Callan Kelly easily blunting any attacks. The midfield trio of Ethan Byrne, Morgan Whittaker, and Matthew Armstrong worked tirelessly, offering support to the ever-dangerous Ethan Abercrombie and Adam Cathcart up top. As legs began to tire, game-changers Harry Funston and Joshua Ovens put in a solid shift. It was a superb performance and a great foundation to build upon for next year’s competition.
