ERBC had 28 crews taking part in the Head of the Garavogue in Sligo last weekend and they were fastest crews in 14 categories.
In Race 1 there were 8 wins
MJ18 8+ George Kernaghan, Joshua Coalter, Owen Kelly, Justin Smith, Oliver Khew, Hugo McChesney, William Bogle, Thomas Murphy and Cox Katelyn Fee overcame the challenge from the Neptune RC and Commercial RC crews in a time of 8.13.4. They were the fastest crew overall in the race.
MJ16 8+ Christian Timoney, Eoghan Campbell, Harry Coalter, Andrew Cuthbertson, Charlie Lynn, Lorcan Sreenivasan, Harley Sheppard, Ben Cameron and Cox Errie Powell won by 13.4 secs over Blackrock RC in a time of 8.25.8
MJ16 4X+ Evan Donaghy, Ryan Topping, Luke Bailey, Austin Cassidy and cox Abbey Wilson took the win over Carrick RC by 27.8 secs completing the 3 Km course in 8.46.0
MJ15 8+ Cillian Donaghy, Olie Powell, Cameron Bell, Matthew Montgomery, Ryan Thomas, Jacob Woods, Joel Crean, Oliver McNeary and cox Jessica Thompson finished in 9.21.7, gaining great racing experience ahead of Erne Eights Head on March 2nd.
WJ18 4X- Kate Huddlestone, Naomi Robinson, Eva Johnston and Ruby Hamill had a very convincing win over Athlone BC by 15.6 secs
WJ16 4+ Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Hannah Armstrong, Erin Trimble, Sienna Howe and Cox Rachel Cathcart overcame the challenge from their clubmates Mya Morris, Amy Lipscomb, Meabh Murphy, Milena Remedios and cox Daisy O’Hare to win the category.
WJ15 1X Isabella Wright won by 14.1 secs over the scullers from Athlone BC and Sligo RC on her home water while WJ16 1X Zara Welsh won a very competitive category with 8 entries in a time of 10.57.6
In Race 2 there were 6 wins including the fastest crew overall for the MJ16 4+ of Evan Donaghy, Ryan Topping, Luke Bailey, Austin Cassidy and cox Errie Powell who took their 2nd win of the day in a time of 10.25.2. The MJ18 4+ George Kernaghan, Hugo McChesney, Oliver Khew, Justin Smith and cox Katelyn were 2nd fastest crew overall in the race in a time of 10.35.1, they also won their category.
WJ16 8+ Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Hannah Armstrong, Zara Welsh, Naomi Robinson, Erin Trimble, Sienna Howe, Meabh Murphy, Milena Remedios and cox Jessica Thompson put in a great race finishing in 11.23.1
Kate Huddlestone and Eva Johnston won the WJ18 2X by 25.3 secs over New Ross
WJ15 8+ Isabella Wright, Emily Black, Tori Davis, Brooke Davis, Abbie McCarthy Magwood, Grace Collins, Amy Williamson, Aoibhin Campbell and Cox Joel Crean finished in a time of 11.48.7
MJ15 1X Cillian Donaghy won his category over the 2 scullers from Blackrock RC in 12.28.0 bringing the event to an end.
ERBC received a special recognition award from Sligo RC for the most decorated club on the day.

Next up is the highlight of the season, Erne Eights Head of the River on Saturday, 2nd March when we expect to have approx. 100 crews competing in the 2 races. The women’s race takes place at 11am with the men’s starting at 2pm.
