Warmest congratulations to Luchia McCusker in Year 12 who won the Northern Ireland final of the Soroptimist Public Speaking competition in Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon. Having won the regional heat back in November, Luchia along with ten other finalists from across Northern Ireland progressed to this weekend’s final where she won the Soroptimist Youth Award Perpetual Salver and £200. Luchia chose the topic of ‘Poverty is a root cause of slavery’ for her prepared speech: she also had to deliver an extempore speech on ‘ Why can’t I……….. ?
Luchia is now invited to deliver her winning speech at the annual Joint North/South Soroptimist Conference which this year will be held in the Hilton Hotel Belfast in May.
Well done to Luchia on her excellent achievement!
