The 1608 Royal Schools’ Debating Competition was hosted this year by Royal School Dungannon who also emerged as this year’s winners. Well done to the ERGS team, Annie Fowler and Emma McGowan who put in a very strong performance in opposing the motion, This House believes that Artificial Intelligence is more of a threat to society than an opportunity. One of the judges, Dr Margaret McAliskey, summed up the range of skills that were showcased throughout the day including research skills, performance skills, listening skills and communication skills. It was a great day of learning and socializing for the Debate Club pupils who will have picked up many tips throughout the day. Thank you to everyone involved in this esteemed annual event.
