On 8th March 38 Pupils and 5 Teachers made their way to the Portadown Faith Mission Centre for the 2019 SU Weekend. The Weekend kicked off with an introductory message on the book of 2 Timothy, which was the topic for the weekend, he reminded us that the Bible is God–breathed and how important the Bible is for us. The speakers for the weekend were Jeff Gawn (SUNI – Fermanagh) and Liam Shannon (SUNI – Intern and Past Pupil of ERGS). The meeting was followed by Ice-breakers, some of which required a strong stomach!
Saturday was an eventful day with a sports morning, a visit from Lord Sugar, Karan and Claud in the afternoon (it is reported Richard, Nicole and Sam were missing during this time) and a Mystery Auction in the evening. Small groups during the morning meeting allowed us to further explore the Bible together, we considered what Paul meant when he tells us that God calls us to be good Soldiers, Farmers and Athletes. In the evening Liam brought a challenging message on Keeping the faith. On Saturday night we had a time of Praise and Smores around the campfire.
Sunday drew the weekend to a close, Jeff concluded the messages in 2 Timothy, and after a scrumptious Sunday Lunch, a tired bunch of pupils and teachers returned to Enniskillen.
