On Wednesday 31st January 2024, some of our Year 11 and 12 pupils took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. This challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
The following pupils achieved bronze certificates, which was really good:
Lin Ruo Zhang, Theo Wei, Amelie Martin, Emma Fawcett and Eloise McDonagh.
Lin also achieved best in her year.
The following pupils achieved silver certificates, which was great:
Tom Fallis, Oleksii Dolzhenko, Natalia Dowha, Anna Cairns, Joseph Armstrong and Rachel Cathcart.
The following pupils achieved gold certificates, which was fantastic:
Barry Hutchinson and Erin Trimble (missing from photos). Barry also achieved best in his year and best in school, and he has earned a place on the Pink Kangaroo challenge on 21st March. Well done to Barry!
Chloe Simmons, Ciara Hutchinson, Ryan Thomas, James Gallagher, Hannah Armstrong and Robert Kerr all achieved certificates of participation.
Well done to all pupils who took part, as this consisted of incredibly challenging questions. They should all be very proud. Some fantastic results!
