On Tuesday 3rd December our Lough Shore site was the venue for the launch of Mr Sam Morrow’s book entitled Enniskillen Royal School and its Tenant Farmers in the Ninteenth Century – Worlds Apart.
A large number of people attended the launch which was presided over by The Rt Rev Dr I Ellis.
At the outset, Mr Morrow gave an overview of his research and this was complemented by the display of a number of slides depicting aspects of the book dating from the late 1800s right up to present day. Mr Richard Bennett (former Headmaster of Portora) then added some further insights to Mr Morrow’s comments.
Mr David Brown (Old Potoran and immediate past President of the Ulster Farmers Union) provided more information in representing the former tenantry.
Those attending the launch then had an opportunity to purchase a copy of the book and talk to the speakers whilst enjoying light refreshments.
The book is available to buy from reception at the Lough Shore site at a cost of £15.
All proceeds from the book are being kindly donated for the benefit of the school.
