Enniskillen Royal Grammar School will endeavour to provide a broad variety of musical activities for all of its pupils. Music has always had strong traditions in our two legacy schools, the former Collegiate Girls Grammar and Portora Royal Schools. We aim to build on these strong traditions and add to them by providing opportunities for Vocalists and Instrumentalists. This will be in addition to Music in the Curriculum which is accessed by all pupils in KS3 as well as available as an option at GCSE, AS and A Level.
There are strong choral traditions to build on and the development of these has recently been manifested in our ‘Inaugural Carol Service’. In December 2016 the Junior and Senior Choirs comprised over 120 pupils who performed a range of appropriate Christmas pieces including the exciting ‘Carol of the Bells’ as an Introit and Stopford’s beautiful arrangement of ‘A Christmas Blessing’ at the end of the Service in St Macartin’s Cathedral. Fermanagh Feis is up and running again this year after a two-year break and the Senior Choir (Years 11-14) will have the opportunity to compete in the local Choral Competition. Additionally there is opportunity for Senior pupils to attend a choral group as part of the Enrichment Programme.
