On Thursday 28th November we celebrated the many successes and notable achievements of our pupils in both their academic studies and in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We were delighted that so many of our 2024 leavers were able to return to join in these celebrations in the beautiful setting of St Macartin’s Cathedral.
Our Guest Speaker was Libby Armstrong, a former pupil of one of our legacy schools, Enniskillen Collegiate. Libby has extensive Human Resources experience in multi-union global and cross border organisations and previously held the positions of HR Director in Bombardier and Head of Human Resources in Waterways Ireland. She has worked across both the private and public sectors in senior HR Leadership roles and currently serves as a Panel Member on the Industrial and Fair Employment Tribunals; the Board of the Labour Relations Agency Northern Ireland and the Governing Body of South West College. She is also a Trustee of Master Key Movement, a local faith-based charity that supports women and girls on a range of gender related issues at The Well, here in Enniskillen.
In her thought provoking and inspiring speech Libby drew on her own personal experience and career pathway to illustrate the importance of several core attitudes, including resilience, the willingness to accept feedback , the determination to work hard and the importance of relationships in building supportive networks. Above all she emphasised the need to know our core values; for Libby the core values which have underpinned her success are perseverance. lifelong learning, integrity and teamwork which together with her faith, family and friends and colleagues have sustained and inspired her along the way. Above all she emphasised to the young people in the audience the importance of taking opportunities when they arise as they strive to be the best they can be and maybe in their own time to be somebody’s legend!
