Congratulations to our Y8 pupil Noah Guildea for an excellent performance in the Irish Chess Union’s rated “Queen Maeve” 5-round tournament held this weekend between 7-9 March, at Sligo Park Hotel.
Noah succumbed to strong players rated 1647 and 1552 from the University of Galway and Maynooth University, respectively. However, his outstanding achievement was forcing an adult player, with a performance rating of 2129, to a draw in round 4 in a game which lasted just under three hours. Noah hopes to compete in further rated tournaments to get a national rating before September.
