Following a long journey North, the U13 side faced their most challenging match of the season against undefeated Coleraine Grammar. From the kick off it became clear that the host side were a ‘useful bunch’, quickly moving the ball across the field stretching the ERGS defence. However despite the pressure, the ERGS team were defiant and gave a valiant account of themselves as they played equally impressive rugby making it very clear that this was to be a game that could go either way. In the set piece, Enniskillen dominated play frequently out-scrummaging Coleraine and winning clean ball in the line-out. However the Coleraine side were opportunists and scored each of their trys from mistakes and missed tackles. The Enniskillen score came early in the second half from a period of impressive rucking and recycling by the ERGS pack allowing ‘super-sub’ Ethan Clarke to crash over the line and centre Daniel Johnston to convert. Unfortunately a much needed second try was not to be, and as fatigue set in the Coleraine side scored their 3rd of the morning to seal the victory at 17-7.
