Today our Year 10 Netball Team attended their annual Fermanagh Netball Blitz. It was held in Fivemiletown college and 5 schools were in attendance.
The team got off to a slow start against Fivemiletown. Although they had good possession of the ball, they couldn’t get on target whereas Fivemiletown could. The opening game was lost 6-0.
Next up was Devenish College – their first time back in the competition in many years. Our girls were not playing their usual quality Netball although they were beginning to think more carefully about their passing. This meant that the ball was received well in the Shooting circle and we were finally on the scoresheet. We won the game 3-1.
The third match was against a very handy Erne Integrated. We continued to grow in confidence as we progressed through the matches, and were very unlucky not to slot more than 2 goals away. We won the game 2-0.
The final match of the whole tournament would decide 2nd and 3rd place. It was such a close match in terms of ability and skill. St Fancheas went ahead by 2 goals before we pulled them back to 2-2. Within the last minute of a very tightly fought game, St Fancheas put in their 3rd goal to secure the win, 3-2, and 2nd place. This meant that ERGS were left in the bronze position.
1st – Fivemiletown
2nd – St. Fancheas
3rd – Enniskillen Royal
This was a well-fought tournament and our thanks go to Fivemiletown for hosting the day.
