The penultimate day and last daytrip for the German exchange students. Today they visited the Freilichtmuseum to find out how 14 year olds lived (and worked!) over 200 years ago on local farms. The general consensus was that life these days is much easier! Then a visit to Hermannsdenkmal, a monument to celebrate Hermann (aka Armenius), a German chieftain who famously brought together German tribes to win a battle against the Roman army as they tried to increase the Roman Empire. (Excellent series on Netflix depicts this story – The Barbarians.) The daytrip finished in the picturesque town of Detmold for a final bit of shopping.
