Despite the score line of 22-0 to the visitors, the ERGS U14 squad played some excellent rugby in what can only be described as ‘challenging conditions’.
Many of the boys put in outstanding individual performances, tackling well and playing some impressive rugby whilst enduring the freezing and wet conditions, a number of players taking ‘swimming lessons’ at points in the game. With 6 regular squad members missing due to ill health, every man available had to step up, including young Oliver Hamill from the U13s who appeared on the wing and John Elliott who had an excellent game at blind side flanker. The wet conditions made even the basics hard to execute, but to the boys credit they continued to defend well and pressurise Omagh throughout, and were unlucky not to come away with some points on the score board.
Each Omagh try came from their capable centre who was able to use his enviable skill and pace to capitalise on opportunities created from spilt ball and missed tackles.
An excellent game to watch and be part of well done boys!!
