8 Enniskillen Royal Grammar School swimmers proudly represented their school at the USSA Ulster Schools Championships held at the Ards Blair Mayne Leisure Centre in Newtownards on Saturday 1st February. This gala was aimed at swimmers in Key Stages 3 & 4 and our school was very well represented among the competitors.
Charles Armstrong (12) secured PBs in both of his events. He quickly found his pace swimming the 50m Breaststroke, placing 7th in his age group. He went on to rank 12th in the 50m Butterfly.
Martha McCreesh (13) really enjoyed the exciting atmosphere of the event. She maintained her 100m Individual Medley time and achieved a satisfying PB in the 50m Freestyle with a great time of 32.55.
James McSorley (12) swam very well in the 50m Freestyle event.
Russell Mikiewicz Lumayad (15) achieved a new PB in 50m Freestyle event, finishing first in his heat. He followed with a 100m Individual Medley race where he took off an amazing 17 seconds from his entry time.
Ryan Mongan (15) shaved 2.7 seconds off his entry time in the 50m Breaststroke and went on to collect a 9 second PB in the 100m Individual Medley event, securing top ten finishes in both.
Tori Veitch (12) secured new PBs in both the 50m Breaststroke and Freestyle races.
Haralds Uzulins (14) hit the wall with a new PB in the 50m Breaststroke before going on to shave a whopping 10 seconds off his PB in the 100m Individual Medley event.
Finley Walker-Leonard (14) achieved top ten finishes in his age group along with new PBs in both the 50m Backstroke and the 100m Individual Medley.
Many of these swimmers will carry these valuable competition experiences into their preparations for the Swim Ulster Post Primary Schools Cup & Championships in Bangor next weekend.
