A shortish trip to Portadown this week saw the ERGS 13s meet a determined Killicomaine side. Following last week’s dominant display against Bangor the ERGS boys were perhaps a little complacent in the opening 20 minutes and despite coming away in the lead, 5-10, at half time they had needed to work hard; the resilient Killicomaine side continuing to test their defence and threaten the wings. Following an inspiring half time talk, motivation levels and execution of quick hands started to improve. The ERGS boys began to dominate the set piece, turning over three successive scrums and thinking more creatively to get behind the Killicomaine line. The trys started to come as confidence improved and prop C Johnson scored his first hat-trick of the season with simple route one running. To their credit the Killicomaine boys never gave up and very nearly got themselves on the scoreboard for a second time in the dying minutes. Final score 5-39
