A great start to half term for the 30 man ERGS U13 squad with two convincing displays against Foyle this morning.
The ERGS 13As took advantage of a travel weary Foyle from the outset, quickly pressurising the Foyle forwards from the kickoff and forcing a turnover. With a strong determined defence, the Foyle back line we’re unable to secure clear ball and with solid rucking by the ERGS pack and quick distribution out to the wings by Beddard and Hinchliffe it wasn’t long before the first try was scored in the far corner by winger Rowland. This set the tone for the game ahead as outstanding defence gave Foyle very few opportunities and the ERGS boys’ hands and speed of distribution meant they continued to cross the gain line and offload to supporting runners. Wallace, Gamble, Hinchliffe and Curry all being rewarded with well worked team tries. Final score a very convincing 32-0.
Man of the Match – Paul Curry
Tries: F Rowland, G Gamble x2, B Wallace, J Hinchliffe + 1 Conversion & P Curry.
A strong start to the game from the ERGS 13Bs boys saw them score 2 early tries by winger Harte and scrum-half Evans. The team were sticking to their patterns of play and distributing ball well. Foyle came back into the game with a couple of break away tries , before strong runs from McCormack, Balfour, Whitton and Pattison reasserted their dominance. Donaghy, Madill and Moore proved to be a dangerous midfield combination and strong defensively.
Lots to work on in training but big improvements being seen every week . Final score 40-25.
