A fantastic display of teamwork and discipline saw the Enniskillen Royal U13 rugby squad get their revenge on a Foyle side they met only 6 weeks ago and who had beaten them by 1 point in the dying minutes of the game. The ERGS squad pressurised the Foyle team for the entire game. Solid defence throughout meant the Foyle side were unable to make any real ground and when opportunities to score become available the ERGS team did not hesitate to take the points. By half time a convincing 12-0 lead had been established as Quillan Irvine opened the scoring and the pack pulled off an new lineout move learnt on Thursday allowing Nathan Armstrong to crash over the line from the 22.
The second half saw some outstanding rugby as the ERGS side moved the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, stretching the Foyle defence. The 3rd try of the game came from Nathan Armstong as he bulldozed his way over the line from close range. Devin Harron successfully completed an improvised back row move for the 4th, soon followed by centre James Bloomfield and then No.10 Shay Owen who convincingly weaved their way through the Foyle defence to score numbers 5 and 6. The impressive final score of the morning completed Nathan Armstrong’s hat-trick as he ripped the ball from a Foyle player on his own 22 and proceeded to outsprint an exhausted Foyle team the length of the pitch . Final score a very pleasing 37-0 victory.
