On Saturday 10th October, the ERGS Show jumping Team travelled to the Meadows Equestrian Centre to compete in the 2nd week of the Tri-League. Once again, the Teams/Individuals did themselves and their school proud.
Emily Black had the first of her two events today when she went in the 75cm Individual class in Arena 1. This week, she improved her performance as she and Bear had a perfect double clear. A super start to the day.
The Novice team were next to go in Arena 1. Lucie-Anne was once again first in the team to go. After an unfortunate mix-up in route, she and Bobby had a great ride over the rest of the course. Four faults in the first phase and a clear in the timed phase. Next in was Emily who was attempting the 85cm height for the first time. She and Bear had a super ride gaining a double clear. A really excellent day for the youngest member of the team. The 3rd rider in was Tiana-Grace on Echo – recovered from a foot injury – and the pair had a great double clear. Finally, due to a last-minute change, Tiana-Grace went into the Arena for the 2nd time, on Bobby. This was the first time the pair had ridden together and unfortunately, they got 4 faults in both phases. However – with the best 3 rides to count, the team have vastly improved on their placing from last week. Well done to them all.
Next into Arena 1 was the Open team – this time with the addition of Natalie and Harlequin Butterfly. Sophia was first in (ahead of the rest of the team due to having to ride twice)with just the four faults in the first phase and a clear in the 2ndphase on Winnie. Then after a few more teams, Natalie appeared on her new horse. They had a good solid round with a clear in the 1st phase and just the 4 faults in the 2nd phase. Then Patrick came in with another confident ride but, like Natalie, a clear 1st phase with 4 faults in the 2nd. Sophia reappeared on her own horse to produce the first double clear for the team, in a good time. Their combined time and score on this occasion just pushed them out of the top 6 Teams.
Sophia again rode in the Premier Event riding superbly to gain a double clear and a speedy time. This week, she placed 3rdsolidifying her decision to move up to this height.
Natalie also entered the Premier Event and also had a double clear – a super achievement, coming just outside of the top 6 on this occasion.
Once again, well done to all the riders and their horses for turning out on this cold and wet (for the Open Team) day.
Thanks are due as usual to the unfailing support of the parents( aunts and coaches) – without you, we couldn’t enter the pupils in any of these competitions.
Week 3 – 24th October 2020.
