    Irish Indoor Rowing Championships

    By Sinead Magee | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 19 January, 2025 | 0
We had 14 talented rowers representing ERBC at the Irish Indoor Championships in Limerick this weekend and they didn’t disappoint. They came home with an impressive haul of 2 gold and 2 silver medals! Special congratulations to Clodagh Donaghy, who outshone the competition by securing gold medals in both the WJ14 2K and WJ14 500m categories. Clodagh covered a remarkable 1084m in 4 minutes and completed her 500m sprint in a commendable time of 1.42.9, all while being cheered on by her brother, Cillian, who also competed today.
Isabella Wright claimed a well-deserved second place in the WJ16 2K with a time of 7.29.1. Emily Black also put forth a strong performance, finishing 8th in the same event with a time of 7.51.9. In the MJ16 2K event, Joshua Ihnat came tantalisingly close to the podium, finishing 4th with a time of 6.37.7, while Cillian Donaghy secured the 10th spot with a time of 6.46.9. Joshua then went on to clinch a silver medal in the MJ16 500m sprint, clocking in at 1.26.1.

In the Junior 18 2K events, we had some notable performances as well. Naomi Robinson impressed everyone by finishing 11th out of 75 rowers with a fantastic time of 7.35.8, and Luke Bailey earned a commendable 10th place finish out of 153 rowers with a time of 6.32.2. All the boys who took part finished in the Top 50 which was brilliant.

It was a great day filled with personal bests and incredible efforts from all our rowers, making it a memorable event at the University of Limerick.
