Dear Fermanagh Schools,
We have some exciting news and events which are coming up over the next few weeks to share with you.
The Big BIG Fermanagh Litter Pick 2024
Thank you to everyone who took part in The Big BIG Fermanagh Litter Pick 2024, during the last weekend of April. We have collated the success results of the event, and we are delighted to share 1312 volunteers, including 41 organisations/businesses/community groups, 19 schools, and the many individuals and families spread across all corners of Co. Fermanagh. Over the two-day period, 510 bags of litter were collected from the land and over 1.1 tonnes of litter collected from the waterways. This is a massive achievement, and we would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part. We encourage those who chose to keep their equipment, to continue to collect litter throughout the year, and send us photos to let us know you’ve been out picking so we can celebrate your efforts!

D-Day 80 Commemorative Community Event

On Saturday 8th June 2024 we will be hosting a free community event to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, at Enniskillen Airport, formerly RAF St Angelo during WWII. Lough Erne is rich in military heritage, once selected as a base and runway for flying boats and seaplanes, as it is located at the most Westerly edge of the UK – becoming an invaluable resource in the war effort.
With something for all the family there will be WWII Displays, Regimental Bands and Military Village. Join us for the ‘Big Lunch’, bring along your picnic and enjoy the live music. Meet volunteers from a range of health & wellbeing charities as part of the ‘Big Help Out’ Volunteer Village. Have your photograph taken in the Ulster Aviation Societies replica ‘Spitfire’ and enjoy over 80 pipers & drummers perform their special D-Day 80 tribute! With many more free activities for children including model aeroplane flying display, and Highland Dancing it’s a community event not to be missed!
