    Lough Rynn Regatta

    By Sinead Magee | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 9 May, 2023 | 0
Lough Rynn Regatta was the destination for the senior crews from ERBC on Saturday with 20 crews competing over a 2km course racing against the top crews from all over Ireland. The Girls 1st Eight, Acorn Cassidy, Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Kate Huddlestone, Laura Turner, Chloe Thompson, Rachel Cullinan, Eva Johnston, Clodagh O’Donnell, and Cox Jessica Thompson had a very emphatic 12 second win over 2 crews from Galway RC and a crew from Commercial RC, finishing in a time of 7.31.9.
The boys 1st Eight came up against their arch rivals from St Joseph’s College, Galway (The Bish) and despite putting in a great performance and completing the 2k in a time of 6.14.1 it was the Galway boys who crossed the line first.
The boys J16 Coxed Four, Andrew Cuthbertson, Luke Bailey, Austin Cassidy, Evan Donaghy and cox Jessica Thompson fought off competition from 2 St Joseph’s crews, the other ERBC crew, RBAI to win in a time of 7.12.0. The boys are all J15 so this was a great win for them. The J16 Boys Eights which both had a lot of J15 boys in them had a good race against St Joseph’s, Neptune RC and Balckrock RC finishing a very respectable 2nd and 3rd.
Jamie Dunlop, Charlie Lynn, Christian Timoney, Harry Coalter and cox Iain Fleming won the MJ16 4X+.
The girls J16 4+ B crew Annabelle Kingston, Erin Trimble, Ruby Hamill, Zara Welsh and cox Shannon McCann took the win over the A crew.
Rory Keogh, John O’Kane, Jacob Halliday, Joshua Coalter and cox Iain Fleming won the MJ18B 4+ over Muckross RC who were in the C Final.
The girls J18 coxless four, Acorn Cassidy, Laura Turner, Chloe Thompson and Rachel Cullinan
finished their race in a time of 7.39.1 and had a great battle against University of Limerick’s Senior crew down the course.
The boys 1st Eight came up against their arch rivals from St Joseph’s College, Galway (The Bish) and despite putting in a great performance and completing the 2k in a time of 6.14.1 it was the Galway boys who crossed the line first. St Joseph’s also took the MJ18 4- win.
Many thanks to all the coaches and parents who accompanied the rowers to Lough Rynn.
The younger rowers will travel to compete at Trinity Regatta next weekend, while the seniors train at home for National Schools Regatta at the end of May.
