Thank you to all who took part in the Omagh High School show on Thursday 18th Serptember @ the Ecclesville Centre, Fintona.
We started with Class 6 Novice (65-75cm). Here we saw two of our newest members riding for the school. Bobby O’Keeffe (Year 8) on Black Jack was first in with a super, confident ride and an all clear in both phases. Next was Claudia Black (Year 8) on Donn Boy. Again, confident and a strong ride producing another all clear in both phases. Finally, Sophie Johnston (Year 9) on Potter made up the newly changed format of 3 riders instead of 4. Another great ride on a very new pony giving us our 3rd double clear for the two phases.
Out of the 16 teams that took part, we came 4th picking up some lovely prizes.
Our next rider was Molly Lee (Year 10) on Amy. The pair entered the Individual Class 6 (last minute) as their 1m pony wasnt quite ready. They had a good ride with just the 4 faults.
Class 7 finally arrived (after much delay – Fermanagh time!!!!!!) and we were the first team in. Alice Black (Year 11) on Curreel’s Shadow. A lovely confident round with just the final fence down at the end – 4 faults. Next in was Molly Lee, but this time on Boomerang. This was a ‘ride and see’ as they haven’t been out for a while. The pair made it round the course with a few fences down along the way. Finally, Isabelle Wallace ( Year 10) on Georgie. These two are still getting to know each other and at times it can be a battle of wills. On this occasion, Georgie’s will was stronger. So, no placing for this team, but still a good start for them all.
Last, but not least, was Imogen Heap (Year 10) on Chico. The duo were riding in the 1m Open class and were up against about 10 other riders. Imogen was actually first into the arena after a very long wait. They literally flew round the course with a double clear and a very speedy time of 26.78 seconds in the second phase. A nervous wait whilst the remaining riders had their turn, but, it was worth it. 1st place!!! Congratulations Immy, a great achievement.
Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and pupil supporters. Fabulous to see you all out to cheer each other on.
Next stop – The Meadows Tri League, Week 1 on Saturday 20th September.
