On Friday 21st February, the Junior Team (Year 10) faced St Cecilia’s in the 1/4 Final of the NI Netball Junior Bowl Competition. The match was played on neutral ground in Omagh. It was a super match from the outset with both teams displaying strong tactics and gameplay. Enniskillen eventually got the first score of the game after half of the first quarter was played. Nerves somewhat settled, they added 3 more points to lead in the first quarter by 4-0.
The second quarter was a different story, with St Cecelia’s coming back to within 2 points before we were able to extend the lead again by 7-3. After a team talk at half time, the girls realised that although we seemed to be the stronger side, we could not afford to become complacent. The third quarter saw a more determined ERGS side come out. This led to a 13-4 lead going into the final quarter. Despite being ahead, the team held strong and didn’t tire in their efforts and nor did St Cecilia’s. Final score was 15-5 to ERGS and a place booked in the 1/2 final against Dromore High School. Congratulations to the whole squad for a fantastic match.
