- Tennis – The U14 boys squad of Kyle Deery, Matthew Cairns, Tadgh Hambly and James Patterson played 3 matches in one day last Wednesday (15th May) losing to Regent House & Killicomaine JHS at KJHS. They did draw their match against Banbridge Academy but lost overall on games countback 27-23. The format is 4 singles matches to one set and then 2 double matches again to one set. The U12 Girls drew their match verses Banbridge Academy at Banbridge but won overall on games countback 24-25.
- Sports for Champions – After some fundraising all KS3 had a great experience meeting GB athlete Laura Samuel who visited the school last Thursday (16th May) to put the pupils through their paces in a fitness circuit and then took questions from the children. Laura Samuel is a British track and field athlete who competes in the triple jump. She has a personal best of 14.09 m for the event, which ranks her third among British women. She was the silver medallist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and also the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics. Well done Jonah Balfour, Marnie Noble and Jake Elliott all in Year 8 who achieved the top sponsorship amounts. (Pics sent from J Little to use).
- Cricket – The Yr 8 boys cricket team took on Royal School Armagh Friday 17th May on the hallowed turf of the LS cricket pitch. After winning the toss captain Ben Foster decided ERGS would bat first and the team reached 55 for 8 after the allotted 16 overs. In reply Armagh also reached 55 for 3 with the help of a few wide deliveries from the ERGS bowling attack. Match tied but unfortunately Armagh proceed to the next round due to fewer wickets lost. Well done boys on their first ERGS match. Training continues Tuesday at LS 4-5pm. Any interested Year 8 Boys and Girls are welcome
