The Year 8 Geography pupils at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School demonstrated their active citizenship skills by participating in the Send My Friend to School campaign. This year centred on the urgent need for increased global investment in education. Pupils learned that over 258 million children were unable to attend school last year—many due to the escalating impact of conflict, climate change, and the aftermath of COVID-19. They explored how these global emergencies have disrupted education systems and threaten the futures of millions of children worldwide.
In response, pupils created powerful posters with messages calling on the UK Government to champion greater investment in global education and to help ensure that Sustainable Development Goal 4—Quality Education for All—can be achieved. They discussed how long-term funding and support are essential to building resilient education systems that can withstand emergencies and provide stable futures for children around the world.
We will now send these to our local MP to urge them to raise this issue. The pupils call for meaningful action and long-term global investment to guarantee that education is not interrupted in times of crisis.
