17 crews from ERBC competed over 3.5 Km on the Garavogue River in Sligo on Saturday and came back with 10 winning pennants. The Year 9 rowers who only started to row in September got their first experience of racing and they all did well. Many thanks to the Year 10 rowers and the coxes who helped the new rowers on Saturday.
Nicole Graham, Clodagh Donaghy, Kaitlyn Read, Emily Stewart and Jessica Thompson (cox) won the Women’s Junior 14 Quad by 35.2 secs over the crew from Athlone BC
Josh Allen won the Men’s Junior 14 single scull by 1.11.3 over Donegal Bay RC.
George Elliott and Eli Irvine had a great win in the Men’s Junior 14 double by 1.41.4 over the Sligo crew.
Harry Welsh, Joel Crean, Oliver Jennings, Evan Clarke and cox Abbey Wilson won the Men’s Junior 15 quad while Josh Allen, George Elliott, Eli Irvine, Levi Thompson and cox Jessica Thompson won the Men’s Junior 14 quad.
Freya McNeary and Penny Huddlestone won the Women’s Junior 15 double and Clodagh Donaghy and Kaitlyn Read took the Junior 14 pennant.
In the Girls’ Junior 14 octuples event 3 ERBC crews raced against each other and it was Rachel Cathcart’s crew who were the quickest on the day finishing in a great time of 13.00.4.
In the Men’s J15 octo category ERBC were the only entry but they raced really well to complete the 3.5 Km in 11.06.7.
The 2 Men’s Junior 14 octos raced each other and it was Amy Lipscomb’s crew who came away with the winning pennant.

The senior rowers stayed at home on Saturday to continue their preparations for ERBC’s own event – Erne Eights Head of the River which takes place on Saturday, 1st March. The Women’s Race starts at 11.00 and the Men’s at 2.00.
