The U13 Boys Cricket Team were drawn away to Killicomaine JHS in the Ulster School Cup R1. Having not had any practice due to the recent wet weather it was always going to be a challenge. Capt J Rutledge lost the toss and ERGS were put into bat. 2 quick wickets fell in the 1st over to good line & length bowling with the middle order & tailenders not able to hang around for too long either. William Armstrong top scored with 2 & Suresh Varma, despite only scoring 1, put up a stubborn resistance over the first 10 overs. ERGS all out for 31 off 12.3 overs with the ever reliant Mr Extras contributing the majority of the total!
Killicomaine only required 32 from the alloted 16 overs so 2 an over was all they needed. An early wicket from S Little to dismiss their strong opener and great caught & bowled from A Humpreys were the highlights from ERGS fielding performance. Hopefully with a change in the weather & a bit more practice the boys can look forward to the Plate draw.
Result Killicomaine JHS 32 – 2 beat ERGS by 8 wickets.
