The final preparation phase of the Ulster Senior Girls Schools Cup competition took place on perfect surfaces but on a wet and windy morning at Omagh Rugby Club.
There were one or two new teams taking part in this phase and some really excellent players that gave our girls some new problems.
The really strong numbers in our girls Senior section meant that we were again able to field two teams, one with 10 and then the other with 11. This is a wonderful tribute to the application of the Senior girls.
The ERGS 2 team started first against St Columbas , Glenties and ran out 5-1 winners. Next they played a really strong Fivemiletown College team that they fell short to a 2-1 defeat. Their possession and territory should have resulted in a win but that’s rugby. Their third game was against Omagh Academy and they were awesome in this game winning 8-2.
The ERGS 1 team started off against the FMT team winning 6-0 which was a fantastic starting result. They then beat the OMAGH Academy girls 10- 0 followed by an excellent result of 2-0 against Magh Ene, Bundoran. Their last game was really well contested but only lasted 4 mins due to the opposition losing players to injury and having no further subs.
The day was a huge rugby success for the ERGS Senior girls squad in both attack and defence and acts as a really useful building block for the next outing which will be the Schools Cup Qualifiers day in 3 weeks.
