Pool one was kicked of when ERGS came head to head with the home side of Foyle. ERGS got of to a great start as they reclaimed the ball from a Foyle knock on and spread the ball wide for an early score on the wing. ERGS packed dominated in defence by turning over multiple rucks. With teams being rewarded for 3+ passes in the scoring system, ERGS back line where rewarded for this multiple times and where able to cross the try line once they finally figured out where it was. ERGS saw out the game with a heavy scoreboard in ERGS favour.
The next game ERGS played against a strong Omagh side. The game started off physical with some big defence from ERGS gaining some valuable 3 points from low tackles. They turned over the ball and were quickly able to move it out wide where the wingers were able to score multiple times. Some big forward carries in the middle of the park got ERGS go forward and they were able to convert this pressure into tries. In the end ERGS won comfortably with only conceding one try.
Another ERGS team played in Pool C. In the first pool game they beat Strabane 22-19 with Levi and Archie scoring a try each and Josh scoring twice. The second pool game was lost narrowly 33-24 to Ballymoney. The team didn’t score but won lots of points through their great tackling and passing. A third extra game was played without gamification rules against Omagh. They lost 8-2 but tries from Levi and Archie gave the team hope. Standout performances throughout these games from Aaron, Josh and Tylen allowed the team to successfully gain points.
