On Wednesday 29th March, 24 pupils from Years 8-12 travelled to Lisburn Racquets Club for the Ulster Table Tennis Championships.
It was a full day with pupils playing many games within their age group.
For the first stage, pupils were randomly grouped and they played each other in a knock out style competition. If successful, they progressed to the semifinals and then the finals.
If unsuccessful, they went into a consolation tournament where, again, they did a knockout competition.
U14 boys – Sam Morrison reached the final of his group competition, but lost in a tough few games. Due to finishing so highly, he was unable to play in the consolation tournament.
Jake Irwin won both his games in the consolation tournament, but due to the sheer number of entrants, they were sadly unable to complete this aspect of the competition.
Final results are as follows…
U12 girls – 1st Eimear Hutchinson
U12 boys – 1st Sam Little
U12 boys consolation – 1st Ashvik Rao
U14 girls – 1st Ciara Hutchinson
Congratulations to our winners and medalists and also to all our competitors – a fabulous start to Table Tennis Competitions at ERGS.
