Saturday 14th – not the brightest of mornings, but this did not stop our Showjumpers from taking to the Arena!
In the 85cm team Chloe Cathcart, riding Queenie, competed earlier in the day due to another commitment. She had a super double clear round with one of the fastest times of the day at just over 25 seconds! Next up were Tess Wallace and Rusty – this pair had a strong round but were very unfortunate to have a pole down at the last fence. Tori Lilly was the last rider for the team. Riding Stuart, they produced a steady round going double clear. The team finished in 7th place in the first leg of the league. A brilliant achievement with just 3 riders.
The 75cm team was made up of Isabelle Wallace riding Bess, Tori Veitch on Ballyerk Canyon, Imogen Heap on Chico and Lily Moore on Izzy.
Isabelle and Bess were first into the arena. A lovely start for the team with a great 1st phase and only 4 faults in the 2nd speed phase as, unfortunately, Bess didn’t like the look of fence 8 and stopped!
Next up was Tori and Ballyerk Canyon. This was their first time competing for ERGs on a young green pony. Unfortunately, the round didn’t go as well as they had hoped. A refusal at the 1st fence put them on the wrong footing. Despite this, the next few were lovely jumps, just not quite enough to achieve what they wanted on the day.
Third up was Imogen riding Chico. This pair jumped a lovely double clear round in a fast time with lots of tight turns.
Last for this team was Lily riding Izzy. Again, an excellent double clear round which they should be extremely proud of.
The team placed 4th overall and collected rosettes. A massive well done to them all.
The individuals also rode well on Saturday with Maria Elliott on Drumconnis Maid Marion and Sophie McCann on Molly having super double clears, with Erin Wallace on Georgie – a great start, but the speed got to her in the 2nd phase causing a couple of faults.
Well done to all the riders on Saturday and a big thank-you to all the parents for their support and transport.
Next date: Saturday 28th September
