On Thursday 30th March, it was the turn of the Counties Year 8 Netball Teams at their Annual Fermanagh Blitz. Six schools attended the competitions, held in The Castle Park Centre, Lisnaskea. These were Mount Lourdes, St. Kevin’s, Lisnaskea, Devenish College, St. Fanchea’s College, Erne Integrated and Enniskillen Royal Grammar. We brought two teams to the competition and all the girls got to play.
The first match was against St. Kevin’s, Lisnaskea. This was a good match, allowing the girls to settle into their rhythm. Score: 6-0 to ERGS.
Match 2 was against Devenish College, another good match, which allowed us to change up the team in the 2nd half. This was great to get the girls more competition time. Score: 7-0 to ERGS
Match 3 was against St Fanchea’s. This was another chance for the girls to show their teamwork skills as they worked their way to an 8-1 win.
Match 4 was by far the hardest, when we faced Mount Lourdes, our local rivals. It was end-to-end at the beginning, then our girls switched it up, changed gear and began to make each pass count. Score: 3-2 to ERGS.
The final game was against Erne Integrated College. The girls stayed calm and played strongly. In the second half, we made changes again to enable others to play. Score: 6-3 to ERGS.
After a great day’s Netball the final results were:-
1st – Enniskillen Royal Grammar School: 15 points.
2nd – Mount Lourdes: 12 points.
3rd – Erne Integrated College: 9 points.
Congratulations to all the teams who played in today’s tournament.
