ERBC’s ‘Not So Strictly’ raises over £15,000

    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 11 March, 2019 | 0

ERBC’s Not so Strictly fundraising event took place in the Killyhevlin Hotel on Friday night and it was a huge success raising over £15,000 for equipment for the young rowers from the Club.

Jayne Daley and Dr Michael Murphy were crowned the Strictly 2019 champions and were presented with the wonderful Glitterball trophy.

10 fantastic couples took to the floor on the night all dancing 2 dances, the jive and the waltz before the top 3 couples, based on money raised together with judges scores danced their favourite dance again. Club parents Tracey Kernaghan and Gary O’Donnell put on an hysterical performance dancing a jive to Buck’s Fizz Making your Mind Up and the audience loved it. Sarah Saunderson and John Slowey, who only started training a couple of weeks ago after being volunteered by Damian Dempster stepped back to the 1970s dancing a flawless jive to Knock on Wood by Amio Stewart. Jayne and Michael danced a beautiful waltz to Kiss from a Rose by Seal which took the audience to their feet. The votes were cast and then Jayne and Michael were declared the winners.

The Strictly judges were Aravon McCann, Angela Rix, Tom Noble and Gerry Murphy with Aoife McCann standing in as a judge when her Mum accompanied Kirstie McComb onto the dance floor as Sharwan Varma was injured during training the previous day. Billy Mulligan took on the role of MC while James Byrne and Aisling McCann looked after sound and music. Stephen Kettyles and his son Ben recorded all the proceedings and a DVD of Strictly 2019 will be available shortly.

ERBC wish to thank everyone who helped make Strictly 2019 such a success, especially all our dancers Sean Donaghey and Jemma Walker, Bryan Kelly and Sarah Tierney, Sarah Saunderson and John Slowey, Zoe Elliott and Tom Blake, Clodagh O’Donnell and Lewis Nixon, Barney Rix and Jane Willis, Tracey Kernaghan and Gary O’Donnell, Stewart Hamilton and Dineka Maguire, Jayne and Michael, Kirstie McComb and the dancers who had to withdraw over the 8 weeks of training, Tim Murphy, Savvas Antoniadis, Padraig Donohoe and Sharwan Varma. Thanks to Adele Kerr, Kevin McGuinness, staff and Board of Govenors at Enniskillen Integrated PS for allowing us to use the school for practice twice a week.  Thanks to everyone who supported the event, those who sponsored the dancers and ads in the booklet, bought tickets and came along and to those who have donated money.

If you haven’t had a chance and would still like to support the event by donating a couple of pounds you can leave it in the school office on either site or donate through the JustGiving page which closes on 17th March.
